Conservas Santos Mackerel Fillets in Mustard Sauce
This beauty from Portuguese producer Conservas Santos is skinless mackerel fillets in mustard sauce. I was expecting the fish to be in a thicker, mostly mustard situation. Instead, it’s a beautiful mustard vinaigrette that somehow doesn’t break down the fish at all.
There are 5 firm, meaty pieces of fish in the tin. The shape inspired me to place them in little gem lettuce leaves and construct lettuce wraps (tacos?) with whatever was lying around.
A bit of pickled onion, avocado, orange tomatoes, some good cranks of black pepper, then drizzled with all of the delicious mustard tin sauce and a fresh and healthy satisfying lunch was served.
Conservas Santos produces their tins in the Ohlao-Algarve, with fish caught daily off the Portuguese coast.
Ingredients: Mackerel, Mustard (water, wine vinegar, sugar, salt, modified starch, mustard flour, stabilizers (carob seed flour and guar gum) and spices), Sunflower Oil, Vinegar
Net wt: 120g
