Miss Can Mackerel Fillets in Mustard Sauce
Miss Can is a 3rd generation business, started in 1911 and brought back to life in 2013 by the original founders grandson. It uses only wild caught fish from the Portuguese seas. We visited their quaint restaurant in Lisbon in 2023, loved everything, and are thrilled they are now available in the United States!
This beauty from Portuguese producer Miss Can is skinless mackerel fillets in mustard sauce. I was expecting the fish to be in a thicker, mostly mustard situation. Instead, it’s a beautiful mustard vinaigrette that somehow doesn’t break down the fish at all.
The shape of these meaty pieces of fish inspired us to place them in little gem lettuce leaves and construct lettuce wraps (tacos?) with whatever was lying around.
A bit of pickled onion, avocado, orange tomatoes, some good cranks of black pepper, then drizzled with all of the delicious mustard tin sauce and a fresh and healthy satisfying lunch was served.
Ingredients: Mackerel, Mustard, Sunflower Oil, Vinegar
Net wt: 4.2oz (120g)
