Jose Gourmet Fried Mussels in Marinade
These are one of my gateway tins. I give this tin to anyone who hasn’t tried tinned fish before because it is 100% a hit every time. The mussels are large and plump, and the sauce they are swimming in is an escabeche with great acidity.
Don’t be fooled by the “fried” on the label, there is no breading or crispiness to these gems, just perfect succulent mussels.
I love them on toasted rye bread with creme fraiche, but however you eat them be sure to have some bread to soak up that sauce! They are also great just on a saltine if you are hiking or on the move.
Jose Gourmet is Portugals smallest cannery, owned and ran by a still working commercial airline pilot and his artist friend (check out that packaging!). They are conservas enthusiasts that started off buying from other canneries, and have now built their own cannery to produce their own products and develop unique sauces you can’t find elsewhere to elevate the tins. They also produce Ati Manel (we sell their spiced Garfish) and ABC+ (their very unique and luxe line featuring sauces like curry, aglio olio and many more).
Ingredients: Mussels, Olive oil, Wine vinegar, garlic, laurel, spices, salt.
Net wt: 110g
